The United Nations (UN) is an international organization founded on October 24, 1945, after the end of World War II, with the objective of promoting peace and international security, economic and social development, human rights, and international cooperation. Headquartered in New York, the UN is composed of 193 member states, each contributing to the various goals and missions of the organization.

The UN operates in several areas through its specialized agencies, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and many others. Its main functions include:

**Peacekeeping and International Security:** The UN seeks to prevent conflicts and promote peaceful dispute resolution through peacekeeping missions, mediation, and negotiation.

**Human Rights Promotion:** The UN works to protect and promote human rights worldwide, combating discrimination and injustices, and promoting gender equality, freedom of expression, and other fundamental rights.

**Humanitarian Assistance:** In emergency situations, such as natural disasters, refugee crises, or armed conflicts, the UN coordinates humanitarian assistance, providing food, shelter, medical care, and other forms of support.

**Sustainable Development:** Through the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN promotes initiatives to eradicate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all, fostering international cooperation in areas such as health, education, the environment, and the economy.

**International Law:** The UN develops and implements international legal norms to promote justice and resolve disputes between nations through the International Court of Justice and other legal institutions.

**Promotion of Democracy and the Rule of Law:** The UN supports democratic processes, good governance, and the strengthening of public institutions in member countries.

Throughout its existence, the UN has played a crucial role in promoting peace, development, and human rights, despite the challenges and criticisms it faces. The organization continues to be an important forum for global dialogue and cooperation, seeking collective solutions to humanity’s most pressing problems.

Push-ups are fundamental in athlete training because they require no equipment and can be done anywhere, making them effective for increasing muscle strength and improving core stability. Regular push-ups help with performance in various sports, such as track and field and football.

There are several push-up variations that make the exercise more challenging, such as one-arm push-ups, plyometric push-ups, and incline push-ups. Athletes’ discipline in performing push-ups demonstrates the importance of strength training to build a strong and healthy body.
