CONNECT
Robotics is the science that uses technology to create robots, machines capable of performing tasks through human commands. In educational robotics classes, students explore structural construction concepts through a structural robotics technology kit. It covers bases, beams, connectors, wheels, shafts, gears, pulleys and motors.
The bases and beams, called rods, are crucial to the structure of the project, while connectors join the parts together and wheels with axles facilitate movement.
Pulleys and gears transmit motion and force, and auxiliary parts perform varied functions.
The battery motor, integrated into the models with white rods and connectors, offers a practical understanding of the principles of structural robotics during classes.

• What are gears for?
• Do you know what pulleys are for?
CONSTRUCT
Exploring the concept of transmitting motion and force using gears, develop a rotating mechanism using gears to explore the transmission of motion. Follow the instructions:
• Start by building a solid foundation using footings, beams and connectors. This will be the main structure of the mechanism.
• Secure the axles to the base, ensuring they are free to rotate.
• Add two or more gears to the axles. Make sure the gears are interconnected, allowing movement to be transmitted between them.
• Arrange the gears so that the rotation of one gear influences the movement of another.
• Test the rotating mechanism, observing how the gears interact and transmit movement.

After building the prototypes, share your experiences with your team and respond:
• What was assembled?
• Using the gear, were you able to give movement to what was assembled?
Then, save all the materials used.
