CONNECT

Robotics, a science that uses technology to build robots, seeks to facilitate tasks through autonomous or command-controlled machines. In educational robotics classes, the construction of prototypes is explored, from imitations of animals and toys to real machines, using structural technological kits to understand construction concepts.

Before structural robotics classes, it is crucial to understand concepts such as bases, beams, connectors, wheels, axles, gears, pulleys, motors and balance.

Bases and beams, called rods, are fundamental to supporting the project, while connectors join components together.

Wheels, axles, pulleys and gears transmit motion and force efficiently, with auxiliary parts performing varied functions.

The battery motor, powered by two AA batteries, is integrated into the model via rods, allowing movement in both directions via a switch.

Connection is facilitated by white connectors on the motor terminals.

CONTEMPLATE

• What is the function of the bases and beams, called rods?

• What is the function of wheels, axles, pulleys and gears in a prototype?

CONSTRUCT

Use the concepts of gears and motor, create a prototype with movement that uses motor and gears.

After building the prototypes, share your experiences with your team and respond:

• What was built?

• Using gear and motor, were you able to move the prototype?
