The Olympics, or Olympic Games, are one of the most popular and prestigious events worldwide. This popularity and prestige are due to the strong connection the Olympics have with spectators who follow the competitions, both in person at stadiums and arenas, and through television.
The Olympics originated around the 8th century BC. The games were held in the city of Olympia – hence the name “Olympics” – where citizens from other cities would gather to participate in the competitions.
